TERAPIA OCUPACIONAL ASSISTIDA POR CÃES PARA CRIANÇAS NO TRANSTORNO DO ESPECTRO AUTISTA: ESTUDO DE CASO COLETIVO

A Terapia Ocupacional Assistida por Cães (TOAC) tem sido praticada em todo o mundo produzindo literatura sobre sua eficácia para diferentes populações. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar se uma TOAC pode promover o desenvolvimento ou aprimoramento de componentes de desempenho ocupacional (CDO) e de componentes de engajamento ocupacional (CEO) e comportamentos sociais e emocionais (CSE) de 5 crianças no transtorno do espectro autista (TEA) com idades entre 3 a 4 anos sob TOAC. Método de estudo de casos múltiplos, sendo que as sessões de TOAC foram individuais em serviço de reabilitação entre janeiro e outubro de 2022 com duração média de 20 minutos. Em cada sessão realizou-se atividades estruturadas em etapas correspondentes aos objetivos terapêuticos. As sessões foram videogravadas e dois investigadores preencheram separadamente para cada sessão um checklist com itens relativos ao CDO, CEO e CSE das crianças. Foi realizada uma análise qualitativa descritiva dos checklists de cada criança. Como resultados, desde a primeira sessão, motivados pela presença do cão, as crianças apresentaram alto nível de engajamento nas atividades, demonstrando por exemplo interesse, atenção e perseverança para realizar as atividades com o cão, mesmo com dificuldades sensório-motoras ou cognitivas. Também apresentaram melhoras nos CDO sensório-motores e cognitivos, e nos CSE quando comparados os checklists. Conclui-se que a incorporação do cão em uma etapa das atividades foi positivo para o engajamento da criança e com isso possível estimular os CDO sensório-motores e cognitivos e os CSE positivos. As atividades realizadas podem constituir sugestões a serem adotadas por praticantes de TOAC. Pesquisas futuras são necessárias com número maior de crianças para validação de um protocolo.
